Why It Takes A Village

It Takes A Village began as a community education panel series, a free resource for families navigating senior care, dementia, and life transitions in Marion County, Florida.

Every event revealed the same truth: families are desperate for trusted guidance, and the professionals who serve them are working in isolation from one another. The elder law attorney doesn't know the hospice team. The discharge planner doesn't know the real estate professional. The caregiver support group doesn't know the memory care community three miles away.

What has emerged is something larger.

It has evolved into a community initiative built on a simple truth: no family should have to navigate a senior transition alone. 

It Takes A Village is building the infrastructure  to make sure they never have to.

It Takes A Village is a few things working together: the network, a resource guide, and a people  to help you use them.

The Village Partner Network connects trusted professionals across every discipline a family in transition might need.

The ITAV Resource Guide puts that network in the hands of every family in the community, the right people, in one place, when you need them.

But information alone doesn't make a hard decision easier.  That's where the Village Guide comes in, a real person who sits with your family, understands your specific situation, and helps you decide not just who's out there, but who's right for you, right now.

Together, these build toward the long-term vision: an organization that outlives its founder, a trusted institution that serves families across Florida and beyond through Village Guides, Village Partners, community events, publications, media, and educational programming.

Throughout the year, It Takes A Village hosts community panel events at senior living communities, churches, and local organizations — bringing families face-to-face with the professionals who can help. These conversations are informal, honest, and always open to questions. 

 Real conversations, wherever they happen to take place — a community pool table, a cookout, a panel event, a walk for a cause we care about. New episodes weekly, featuring the people who help families navigate care.
